Box Office Highlights: Gadar 2 and OMG 2 Deliver Strong Collections
The past week has seen significant activity in Indian cinema’s box office history. Bollywood’s two major action superstars, Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, were released in cinemas. Gadar 2 achieved spectacular earnings, breaking all box office records, while OMG 2 also garnered substantial collections, securing a superhit status.
OMG 2 Box Office Performance Report
OMG 2, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Akshay Kumar, and Yami Gautam, has succeeded at the box office even against the “Gadar 2 storm.” The film’s collection has significantly surpassed its budget. The official confirmed budget for OMG 2 is 60 crore rupees. It is noted that Akshay Kumar did not charge a fee for his role; instead, he co-produced the film and will receive a share of the profits. This confirmation was provided by trade analyst Himesh Makhan.
Upon its release, OMG 2 took an opening of 10 crore 26 lakh rupees on its first day. Over its first three-day weekend, the film’s All India Net Collection reached 43 crore 11 lakh rupees. By the end of its first week (7 days), OMG 2 had accumulated an India Net Collection of 85 crore 47 lakh rupees.
Entering its second week, OMG 2 continued to perform well despite a reduction in screens due to new releases. On its eighth day, the film recorded an All India Net Collection of approximately 6 crore 50 lakh rupees. This brought OMG 2‘s total India Net Collection over the first eight days to 92 crore rupees. The India Gross Collection for the same period stood at 109 crore 50 lakh. The film’s updated overseas collection is 19 crore 50 lakh rupees, leading to a worldwide collection of 129 crore rupees in eight days. This means the film has earned double its budget, achieving a superhit tag at the box office.
Gadar 2 Box Office Dominance Continues
Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, hailed as the biggest blockbuster of 2023, also entered its second week in cinemas. The film recorded massive earnings in its first week, and its collections remain strong in the second week. A significant point for Gadar 2 is that despite new film releases in its second week, its screen count was not reduced. This is attributed to the sustained high demand for the film, leading most cinemas to continue allocating a high number of shows to Gadar 2 in its second week, resulting in continued impressive box office performance.
Gadar 2 commenced its box office journey with an opening day collection of 40 crore 10 lakh rupees. Over its three-day weekend, the film collected 134 crore 88 lakh rupees. By the end of its first week (7 days), Gadar 2 had achieved an India Net Collection of 287 crore rupees.
For its eighth day, Gadar 2 secured advance bookings worth 8 crore rupees. The film’s eighth-day India Net Collection is reported to be approximately 23 crore rupees. Consequently, Gadar 2‘s All India Net Collection for the first eight days reached 310 crore rupees. The India Gross Collection stood at 369 crore rupees. The film’s overseas collection (foreign earnings) is 35 crore rupees. This brings Gadar 2‘s total worldwide collection to 404 crore rupees in eight days, surpassing the 400 crore mark. The film is projected to cross the 500 crore worldwide collection milestone within the next three to four days.
