Pushpa 2: The Rule Box Office Shatters Records
Alia Arjun’s film, Pushpa 2, has completely dominated the box office. The movie has surpassed the biggest opening film in the Hindi market on its first day. Globally, Pushpa 2 earned over ₹200 crore on its opening day. Its collections remained strong on the second day as well.
Pushpa 2 Sets New Opening Day Benchmarks
Pushpa 2 has demolished all previous Indian cinema records on its release day. The film outpaced KGF 2 and Baahubali 2 at the box office. It achieved record-breaking collections not just in India or worldwide, but in every language. The Hindi collections of Pushpa 2 broke the all-time first-day opening record held by Shah Rukh Khan’s film, Jawan. Jawan had earned ₹65.50 crore on its first day in India net collection, but Pushpa 2 surpassed this. Additionally, in its Telugu version, Pushpa 2 surpassed RRR, which was the biggest opener in that cinema. The film’s second-day collections also remained strong. Unlike many Indian films that release on Fridays, leading to a half-holiday on Saturday, Pushpa 2 was released on a Thursday, making its second day a working Friday. Despite this, the film maintained a good hold in the Hindi market. The second-day hold in South Indian languages was also exceptional. Morning shows in the Hindi market saw occupancy of 70 to 75%, with strong bookings for afternoon, evening, and night shows. In South languages, morning shows recorded 68 to 65% occupancy, with solid bookings for later shows in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Pushpa 2 Budget and Pre-Release Recovery
The total budget for Pushpa 2 is ₹500 crore. The film’s makers had already recovered ₹1065 crore before its release through various rights. The digital rights for all languages were sold for ₹75 crore, satellite rights for ₹85 crore, and music rights for ₹65 crore. The worldwide theatrical rights were also sold at high prices: Telugu States rights for ₹220 crore, North India theatrical rights for ₹200 crore, Tamil Nadu rights for ₹50 crore, Karnataka rights for ₹30 crore, Kerala rights for ₹20 crore, and Overseas market rights for ₹120 crore.

This marks the biggest opening day record in the history of Bollywood for a film. For its second day, Pushpa 2 is reportedly collecting ₹445 crore in Hindi net collections. This brings the initial two-day Hindi net collection to ₹114.35 crore, with a Hindi gross collection of ₹136.07 crore.

The film was released globally across 12,500 screens in six languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali. On its first day, Pushpa 2 achieved an India net collection of ₹184.78 crore across all languages. This figure surpassed major pan-India films like RRR, Baahubali 2, and KGF 2 in terms of India net collection. For its second day, Pushpa 2 is projected to collect ₹135.50 crore in all-India net collections across all languages. The total two-day all-language India net collection for Pushpa 2 stands at ₹320.28 crore. The two-day all-language India gross collection is ₹381.01 crore.
Pushpa 2 Overseas and Worldwide Box Office
Pushpa 2 has received a strong response in the overseas market, collecting a total of ₹122.48 crore. The total worldwide box office collection for Pushpa 2 over two days is ₹503.61 crore. The film’s budget is ₹500 crore, and it has already crossed this figure globally within two days.
Projected Future Box Office Trends
The film’s box office collections are expected to be even better on Saturday, which is a half-holiday, and on Sunday. It is anticipated that Pushpa 2 will cross the ₹1000 crore mark worldwide within just 4 to 5 days. The film is expected to definitely earn ₹1000 crore at the box office in a few days. Predictions for its final worldwide box office collection range from ₹1500 crore to ₹1700 crore, with some anticipating it could even reach ₹2000 crore.
