Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection: Worldwide Day-Wise Breakdown and Analysis

Kantara Chapter One Box Office: First Day Collections and Global Impact

Kantara Chapter One, the official prequel to the 2022 film Kantara, has made a significant impact on the box office since its release. The 2022 Kantara had achieved huge earnings when it first premiered in Kannada, subsequently performing well in other South Indian languages, and becoming a blockbuster in the Hindi market without any promotion. This success built high anticipation for Kantara Chapter One, which was expected to create a major stir at the box office. The film has seen tremendous earnings in both the Hindi and South Indian markets, alongside impressive international collections. It is projected to earn more than its budget within its first two days of release.

Kantara Chapter One was produced with a total budget of ₹125 crore and released across approximately 55,000 screens worldwide in all languages. The film’s makers had already recovered more than its budget before its release. Digital rights across all languages sold for ₹120 crore, satellite rights for ₹50 crore, and music rights for ₹20 crore, totaling a pre-release recovery of ₹190 crore.

On its first day, Kantara Chapter One registered a gross collection of approximately ₹25 crore in Karnataka, its biggest market, where morning shows were houseful and afternoon, evening, and night shows recorded 70-80% occupancy, outperforming KGF Chapter 2’s opening in the region. In the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film earned roughly ₹13 crore. Tamil Nadu contributed approximately ₹4 crore 50 lakh, while Kerala saw earnings of around ₹4.5 crore. In the Hindi market (North India), the film garnered an estimated gross collection of ₹25 crore on its first day, receiving a better response in morning shows than a concurrently released Bollywood film, with excellent bookings for afternoon, evening, and night shows. This brought the total First Day All India Gross Collection to approximately ₹70 crore. The film also performed well in overseas markets, collecting about ₹15 crore gross, particularly with strong responses for its Telugu and Hindi versions. Thus, Kantara Chapter One’s First Day Worldwide Box Office Collection reached approximately ₹85 crore. With expected strong collections on the second day, the film’s two-day earnings are projected to significantly surpass its budget. The film is anticipated to achieve a lifetime collection that could reach ₹1000 crore.

Idli Kadai Box Office: Two-Day Collection Report

Dhanush’s action-drama-family entertainer, Idli Kadai, a Tamil film also released in a Telugu-dubbed version, initially had modest pre-release buzz, hinting at a slow start. However, upon release, the film received super positive reviews from audiences, leading to a better-than-expected first-day collection. The film further benefited from the Dussehra holiday on its second day, resulting in remarkable collections. Idli Kadai has a budget of ₹105 crore and has been in cinemas for two days.

On its first day, Idli Kadai achieved an India Net Collection of ₹10 crore 58 lakh from both Tamil and Telugu languages, marking a good start. Despite a general trend where South Indian films earn less on their second day than their first, and facing reduced screens due to the release of Kantara Chapter Two, Idli Kadai maintained strong performance. Its morning shows showed excellent occupancy similar to the first day, and afternoon, evening, and night show bookings were even better. Consequently, the film collected approximately ₹9 crore 25 lakh as its India Net Collection on the second day. This brings Idli Kadai’s total All India Net Collection for the first two days to ₹19 crore 83 lakh, with an India Gross Collection of ₹23 crore 61 lakh. The film also had a good start in international markets, with an Overseas Gross Collection of ₹8 crore 74 lakh. In total, Idli Kadai’s Worldwide Box Office Collection for its first two days stands at ₹32 crore 35 lakh.

The Bollywood romantic comedy-drama, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf, saw a mixed response to its trailer but built a decent buzz before release. Despite this, the film secured a good start at the box office, supported by positive early reviews. It is anticipated that the film could become a major hit in the future.

The film was made with a production budget of ₹65 crore, with an additional ₹15 crore spent on marketing, bringing the total budget to ₹80 crore. It was released across approximately 35,000 screens worldwide. The producers, Karan Johar, had already recovered more than the film’s budget before its theatrical release. Internationally, the film also achieved a good start, with an Overseas Gross Collection of approximately ₹3 crore 25 lakh.
