The GOAT Box Office: Record Opening and Two-Day Collections
Thalapathy Vijay’s film, The GOAT, received a record-breaking opening at the box office on its first day, driven by Vijay’s mega stardom. The film’s strong performance continued, achieving fantastic earnings on its second day as well. The GOAT, an action-drama thriller directed by Venkat Prabhu, stars Thalapathy Vijay and Prabhu Deva. The film was released in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi languages. Thalapathy Vijay’s films consistently achieve collections in the ₹100 crore range on the first day, even without a festival release, demonstrating his star power. His films, whether good or bad, consistently secure strong collections across India and overseas on their opening day.
The GOAT Hindi Market Performance
Despite minimal promotion in North India, with only a trailer released and no significant awareness campaign, The GOAT delivered a decent opening in the Hindi market. The film was not even released in major multiplex chains like PVR, Cinepolis, and Inox. Even with these challenges, The GOAT’s Hindi collections were quite good on the first day. The film maintained a strong hold in the Hindi market on its second day.
The GOAT’s Hindi net collection on its first day was ₹1 crore 85 lakh, from approximately 1000 screens. On its second day, the Hindi market saw a slight drop in occupancy, with net collections reaching ₹1 crore 60 lakh. This brings the two-day Hindi net collection for The GOAT to ₹3 crore 45 lakh. The Hindi gross collection stands at ₹4 crore 10 lakh for two days. Significant growth in Hindi collections is anticipated for the coming Saturday and Sunday.
The GOAT Regional Box Office Trends
In Tamil Nadu, The GOAT achieved record-breaking earnings on its first day, and its collections did not experience a significant drop on the second day. The film saw housefull shows in Tamil Nadu, driven by Thalapathy Vijay’s name, despite limited local promotion. Conversely, the film faced considerable challenges in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Collections were lower compared to Thalapathy Vijay’s previous film, Leo, in these regions, largely due to ongoing rain and a limited number of shows. However, The GOAT garnered very strong earnings from Karnataka and Kerala.
The GOAT: Two-Day India and Worldwide Collections
The GOAT recorded an all-India net collection of ₹52 crore 30 lakh from all five languages on its first day, surpassing the ₹50 crore mark. On its second day, the film’s occupancy across all languages saw a 50-55% drop compared to the first day. However, given that the film was released on a Thursday, followed by a Friday (working day), a substantial increase in collections and occupancy is expected over the upcoming Saturday and Sunday.
As per reports, The GOAT’s all-India net collection on its second day from all five languages is ₹21 crore 50 lakh. This brings the total two-day all-India net collection to ₹73 crore 80 lakh. Projections indicate that the film could easily earn ₹300-₹400 crore in its first week.
