Kalki Box Office Performance: Day 1 Collection Report
The film Kalki has established an historic earning on its first day at the box office, breaking all previous records across India.
Kalki Pre-Release Revenue and Budget Recovery
Kalki was produced with a total budget of ₹650 crore. The film generated substantial revenue even before its release through rights sales. The digital rights for all five languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada) were sold for ₹375 crore. Satellite rights for the same five languages fetched ₹95 crore, and music rights were sold for ₹25 crore. This accumulated to a pre-release recovery of ₹495 crore from digital, satellite, and music rights alone.
The theatrical rights for Kalki were also sold for record prices globally. The main market of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributed ₹180 crore from theatrical rights. Karnataka’s theatrical rights were sold for ₹28 crore, Tamil Nadu for ₹16 crore, and Kerala for ₹6 crore. In the North India (Hindi market), theatrical rights were acquired for ₹85 crore, while overseas theatrical rights contributed ₹70 crore. In total, the worldwide theatrical rights generated ₹385 crore.
Combining all rights sales (digital, satellite, music, and theatrical), Kalki’s makers earned ₹880 crore before the film even premiered in cinemas. This figure significantly exceeded the film’s production budget of ₹650 crore.
Kalki Worldwide Screen Count and Day 1 Occupancy
Kalki released worldwide across 10,000 screens in five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film received an exceptional response across most regions. The best response was observed in Prabhas’ main market of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where Telugu shows began as early as 12 AM and remained housefull throughout the day, achieving 100% occupancy in many locations. Overall, the film recorded approximately 90% occupancy across all states, marking an historic performance.
Karnataka also witnessed a strong reception, with the film releasing in Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi languages and receiving excellent responses. In Tamil Nadu, despite the presence of Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan, the response was not as high as anticipated, though the film managed to fill many cinema houses despite being released on fewer screens. Kerala registered the lowest response among South Indian states, partly because the cameo of Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salmaan was not revealed before release. North India (Hindi speaking states) delivered surprisingly robust collections, with the film achieving “smashing earnings.”
Kalki Day 1 Box Office Collections (Gross)
Kalki recorded significant gross collections on its first day from various regions:
- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana: ₹90 crore
- Karnataka: ₹21 crore
- Tamil Nadu: ₹8 crore
- Kerala: ₹3 crore
The total first-day gross collection from South Indian territories amounted to approximately ₹119 crore.
In the North Indian market, the Hindi version of Kalki garnered a first-day gross collection of ₹30 crore. This makes Kalki the highest-opening film in the Hindi market this year, surpassing the first-day Hindi collection record of Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter.
The all-India gross collection for Kalki on its first day stood at ₹149 crore.
For overseas markets, including premieres and the first day, Kalki collected approximately ₹65 crore (over 4 million dollars).
Combining all these figures, the worldwide first-day gross box office collection for Kalki reached an impressive ₹214 crore. This demonstrates the film’s powerful opening, exceeding ₹200 crore on its release day.
Kalki Box Office Comparisons and Trends
Kalki’s first-day opening surpassed that of Baahubali and earned significantly more than Salaar. The film’s robust opening collection, coupled with generally positive reviews, positions it as a potential major blockbuster in Prabhas’ career.
