Guntur Kaaram’s Grand Opening Day Box Office Performance

Mahesh Babu’s film Guntur Kaaram delivered a massive first-day box office performance, outperforming major Bollywood films. It secured a bigger opening than Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 and also surpassed Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki on its first day. The film broke the opening day record of Mahesh Babu’s previous film, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, which was previously his career’s biggest opener. Guntur Kaaram shows started as early as 12 AM and were completely housefull.

Guntur Kaaram Budget and Pre-Release Earnings

The total budget for Guntur Kaaram is ₹150 crore. Before its theatrical release, the film generated substantial revenue from various rights. The digital rights were sold for ₹81 crore. Music rights contributed ₹27 crore. Satellite rights for the Telugu language fetched ₹40 crore, while Hindi satellite rights were sold for ₹32 crore. Additionally, Tamil satellite rights brought in ₹12.50 crore. In total, the makers earned ₹192.50 crore from digital, satellite, and music rights. The worldwide theatrical rights were sold for ₹134.60 crore. This resulted in a total pre-release business of ₹327.10 crore for the film’s makers, exceeding double the film’s budget.

Guntur Kaaram First Day India Box Office Collections

Guntur Kaaram was released exclusively in a single language, Telugu, with its primary market being the Telugu-speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. On its first day, the film recorded a gross collection of ₹60 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In Karnataka, the film grossed ₹8 crore on day one. The Telugu version, released with English subtitles in North India, collected approximately ₹2 crore gross. Despite limited fan following, Guntur Kaaram earned approximately ₹1 crore from Kerala on its opening day. The film did not make any collections from Tamil Nadu due to screen unavailability, as it faced competition from two other major Tamil films, Dhanush’s Captain Miller and a Siva Karthikeyan film, released on the same day. Overall, the first day all-India gross collection for Guntur Kaaram stands at approximately ₹71 crore.

Guntur Kaaram commenced its international run with premiere shows in the USA on January 11, a day prior to its India release on January 12. On its first day, the film collected approximately ₹26 crore from overseas markets. Combining its India and overseas collections, the first day worldwide box office gross for Guntur Kaaram is ₹97 crore.
