Ponniyin Selvan 2 (PS2) Box Office Performance Update
Ponniyin Selvan 2 has earned over 100 crore at the box office in its initial two days. The film was released in five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. This performance comes at a time when Bollywood films are experiencing a streak of box office flops. While PS2’s Hindi collections were low and the film did not significantly attract Hindi audiences, its collections in South languages were notable.
PS2 Day 1 India Box Office Collections
PS2, which was made alongside PS1 with a combined budget of 250 crore, recorded an India net collection of 51 crore on its first day. This collection spans across all five languages of its release.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 Day 2 Collection Trends
On its second day, PS2 witnessed a significant drop in occupancy. The film experienced a considerable downswing in its main market, Tamil Nadu, particularly in morning shows. Similar downfalls were observed in Telugu and Karnataka states on the second day. Hindi collections for the film were not strong on its first day. The estimated India net collection for PS2 on its second day is approximately 25 crore across all languages, which represents a 50% decrease compared to its first-day earnings.
PS2 Two-Day Total Box Office Collections
PS2’s cumulative India net collection for its first two days stands at 76 crore. The film’s India gross collection for the same period reached 91 crore. From overseas markets, PS2 has garnered approximately 35 crore. Consequently, the estimated worldwide gross collection for PS2 over its first two days is approximately 126 crore.
Ponniyin Selvan 2 Budget and Financial Performance
The combined budget for both Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 and Part 2 was 250 crore. Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 alone had already surpassed 500 crore at the box office. Given that the budget was fully recovered by the first part, all collections from PS2 are considered profitable for the makers.
