Borderr 2’s Explosive Box Office Dominance
Borderr 2 has made a significant impact at the box office, having already earned over ₹300 crore even before completing a full week in cinemas. Released on January 23, Borderr 2’s collections surpass those of Dhurandhar, which was last year’s highest-grossing Bollywood film. Dhurandhar did not achieve such strong collections in its initial six days as Borderr 2 has.
The film has garnered immense public support and appears set for a long run, potentially dominating the box office for one to two months. Borderr 2 has already achieved ‘Superhit’ status within just six days and is anticipated to become an ‘All-Time Blockbuster’ in the near future. Critics who had initially expressed negative views about the film have reportedly been silenced by its strong box office performance, as the movie has resonated with the public.
Borderr 2 Six-Day Worldwide Box Office Collection
Borderr 2’s total worldwide box office collection in its first six days stands at an impressive ₹316 crore 60 lakh. The film was released across approximately 65,000 screens worldwide, with 4800 screens in India and 1700 screens overseas.
The film’s overseas gross collection has reached ₹38 crore 96 lakh. For its first six days, the India net collection is reported as ₹35 crore 29 lakh, while the India gross collection stands at ₹77 crore 64 lakh.
Day-wise India Box Office Performance
On its first day, Borderr 2 recorded an India net collection of ₹32 crore 10 lakh, leading to an India gross collection of ₹37 crore 87 lakh.
Over the initial four days, including the three-day weekend and a strong showing on January 26 (Monday), the film amassed an All India net collection of ₹193 crore 48 lakh. The India gross collection for the first four days reached ₹228 crore 30 lakh.
Borderr 2 continued its strong performance into the weekdays. On its fifth day (Tuesday), the film earned an India net collection of approximately ₹22 crore 31 lakh, with a gross collection of ₹26 crore 32 lakh.
For its sixth day (Wednesday), Borderr 2 showed a strong start. Morning shows indicated continued excellent occupancy at single screens, though multiplexes experienced a 10-11% drop compared to the previous day. However, afternoon, evening, and night show bookings were reported to be robust across both single screens and multiplexes. The estimated India net collection for the sixth day is approximately ₹1 crore 50 lakh, resulting in a gross collection of ₹23 crore 1 lakh.
Borderr 2 Budget and Pre-Release Recovery
Borderr 2 was produced with a total budget of ₹250 crore. An additional ₹25 crore was spent on promotions, bringing the overall cost (budget plus promotion) to ₹275 crore. The film’s box office earnings have already exceeded this total cost.
Before its theatrical release, Borderr 2 generated significant revenue from the sale of various rights. The digital (OTT) rights were sold for ₹120 crore, satellite rights for ₹70 crore, and music rights for ₹20 crore. This collectively amounted to a pre-release recovery of ₹210 crore for the producers, J.P. Dutta and Bhushan Kumar. Thus, out of the ₹275 crore invested, ₹210 crore was recovered before the film’s release.
Comparison with Previous Sunny Deol Hits
Superstar Sunny Deol’s previous film, Gadar 2, earned over ₹500 crore in India, with its worldwide collection surpassing ₹700 crore. Another of his films, Jaat, released after Gadar 2 with minimal promotion, still managed to achieve ‘Hit’ status at the box office by earning over ₹100 crore worldwide.
Future Box Office Projections for Borderr 2
Borderr 2 is expected to continue its strong box office performance for several weeks. There is a possibility that the film’s worldwide box office collection could exceed the ₹1000 crore mark in the future. With no major Bollywood competition expected for the next two to three weeks, Borderr 2 is projected to maintain its dominance at the box office. The lifetime box office collection for Borderr 2 is anticipated to reach between ₹700-₹800 crore, with further weeks determining if it can cross the ₹1000 crore milestone.
