Superstar Sunny Deol’s Borders 2 has made a significant impact at the box office since its release. The film recorded strong earnings on its opening day, with collections increasing even further on the second day. Notably, the third-day collections surpassed both the first and second days’ figures, indicating a strong trend. It appears this film is set for a sustained run, with potential to become one of Indian cinema’s biggest blockbusters. Borders 2 marks a blockbuster beginning for Bollywood in 2026. This year, approximately seven to eight Bollywood films had been released, but none performed well at the box office. However, with Borders 2 hitting cinemas on January 23, it has achieved houseful status across many theaters and is set to become the first blockbuster of the year. The film’s earnings have consistently grown, showing an increase from the first day to the second, and then from the second day to the third. This performance has effectively made the film a hit.

Early morning 6 AM shows were also houseful in many locations. As per current reports, Borders 2 is estimated to achieve an India net collection of ₹48 crore 50 lakh on its third day. The total India net collection for Borders 2 over its first three days stands at ₹119 crore 11 lakh, surpassing the ₹100 crore mark. The total India gross collection for the initial three days reached ₹140 crore 61 lakh.

Despite limited per-day shows and promotion in international markets, Borders 2 has achieved substantial overseas earnings. The film’s overseas gross collection is ₹21 crore 15 lakh. With this, Borders 2 has achieved a total worldwide collection of ₹161 crore 76 lakh within its initial three days. The film has earned over ₹10 crore worldwide in three days.

Borders 2 was produced with a budget of ₹275 crore, which includes ₹250 crore for film production and ₹25 crore allocated for promotion and marketing. However, the film’s producers had secured substantial earnings even before its release. The digital rights for Borders 2 were sold for ₹120 crore, satellite rights for ₹70 crore, and music rights for ₹20 crore. This accumulated to ₹210 crore in pre-release earnings for the makers. Therefore, the actual amount at stake for the makers was approximately ₹60-70 crore, against which the film has already earned over ₹161 crore worldwide in just three days.

With January 26 approaching, it is anticipated that Borders 2’s box office collections will exceed those of its first, second, and third days. If performance continues as expected, the film is poised to cross the ₹200 crore worldwide mark on its fourth day. Future projections suggest the film could potentially reach lifetime collections of ₹500-700 crore or even surpass ₹1000 crore. Sunny Deol’s previous film, Gadar 2, also broke records, showcasing the consistent audience support for his movies.
