The Diplomat Box Office Update
The John Abraham film The Diplomat, with a budget of ₹35 crore, has commenced its second week in cinemas. The film did not generate significant earnings in its first week. However, positive reviews have contributed to its continued run, with a good number of screens remaining, leading to expectations for strong earnings in the second weekend.
As of its eight days of release, The Diplomat achieved an India net collection of ₹18 crore 1 lakh in its initial six days. The film earned ₹1 crore 42 lakh India net on its seventh day. On its eighth day, The Diplomat is collecting approximately ₹1 crore 15 lakh India net. This collection on the eighth day reflects a significant drop compared to the previous day, attributed to a reduction in screen count. With these figures, the film’s total India net collection over eight days stands at ₹20 crore 58 lakh. The India gross collection reached ₹24 crore 47 lakh. The total worldwide box office collection for The Diplomat over eight days is ₹28 crore 60 lakh. Predictions suggest potential for a big jump in collections over the upcoming Saturday and Sunday.
Salaar Re-Release Box Office Success
Prabhas’s Salaar, directed by Prashanth Neel, which initially released on December 22, 2023, and earned over ₹700 crore worldwide, has been re-released this week. The film’s re-release has secured an opening at the box office that surpasses the first-time release openings of many Bollywood films. Salaar was re-released exclusively in Telugu language across four states: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, not including a Hindi re-release.
The re-release saw the film open on approximately 800 screens in the South states. Morning shows reported occupancy rates of 70%, 80-90%, with many locations registering houseful status from the morning shows. On its first day of re-release, Salaar collected an estimated ₹1 crore 60 lakh gross from Telangana and ₹2 crore 20 lakh gross from Andhra Pradesh. Collections from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu (other cities) were approximately ₹25 lakh. The first day re-release gross collection for Salaar is reported to be over ₹4 crore. This performance occurred despite the film already being available on OTT platforms in six languages.
Chhaava Box Office Dominance Continues
Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava has entered its sixth week in cinemas, demonstrating consistent, record-breaking earnings. The film’s sixth-week collections are notably higher than the earnings of all films released this week, even new smaller releases. This trend indicates that Chhaava is expected to continue its run in cinemas for another one or two weeks, with its final box office collection anticipated to be surprising.
The film, made on a budget of ₹130 crore, has achieved substantial figures over 36 days. Its initial 34 days saw an India net collection of ₹582 crore 26 lakh from both Hindi and Telugu languages. On its 35th day, Chhaava earned ₹2 crore 48 lakh. For its 36th day, the film is collecting an estimated ₹2 crore 35 lakh India net, despite a reduction in screen count. The total All India net collection for Chhaava over 36 days has reached ₹587 crore 9 lakh. The India gross collection stands at ₹696 crore 63 lakh. Globally, the film’s worldwide box office collection to date is ₹788 crore. A significant jump in collections is expected over the upcoming Saturday and Sunday.
Jaat & Bhoot Bangla Box Office Outlook (Pre-release)
Sunny Deol’s Jaat is slated for release on April 10, with its trailer set to release on March 22. The film is currently generating good hype, and a record-breaking opening on April 10 is confirmed.
Akshay Kumar’s Bhoot Bangla is a highly anticipated horror-comedy. While no collection figures are available as it is yet to be released, anticipation suggests that if Ram Charan’s reported cameo occurs, it could make Bhoot Bangla a blockbuster in the Hindi market and significantly boost its collection in South languages, particularly Telugu. Ram Charan’s potential cameo is expected to enhance the film’s collection.
