Bade Miyan Chote Miyan vs. Maidaan Box Office Collection: Day 1 Report and Future of Pushpa 2, Devara

“Pushpa 2”, “Kalki”, and “Devara” Hindi Theatrical Rights Skyrocket

The Hindi theatrical rights for “Pushpa 2: The Rule” have been sold for an unprecedented ₹200 crore. This figure surpasses all previous Bollywood records for Hindi theatrical rights. Previously, Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” held the record with Hindi theatrical rights sold for ₹150 crore. “Pushpa One” had already earned ₹100 crore from the Hindi market despite zero promotion, setting a precedent for the franchise’s strong Hindi market appeal.

Another major upcoming pan-India film, “Kalki”, has also seen its Hindi theatrical rights sold for ₹170 crore. Additionally, the Hindi theatrical rights for “Devara” were acquired by Dharma Production and Anil Thadani for ₹50 crore. While “Pushpa 2”, “Devara”, and “Kalki” have all secured high prices for their Hindi theatrical rights, “Pushpa 2” has set new benchmarks by breaking all prior records even before its release.

“Maidaan” Box Office Performance: Eight-Day Collections

Ajay Devgn’s sports drama “Maidaan”, made on a budget of ₹150 crore, has commenced its second week in cinemas. Despite positive reviews, the film’s collections have been disappointing. It struggled to make significant earnings during its first week, even with the Eid holiday.

The film’s eight-day worldwide box office performance shows an initial six-day all-India net collection of ₹25 crore 56 lakh. On its seventh day, “Maidaan” collected ₹1 crore 34 lakh. On the eighth day, the film experienced a 15% drop in occupancy compared to the previous day, earning an estimated ₹1 crore 80 lakh. This brings the film’s total eight-day India net collection to ₹29 crore 70 lakh and the India gross collection to ₹35 crore 28 lakh. The worldwide box office collection for “Maidaan” after eight days stands at ₹42 crore 80 lakh. Given its ₹150 crore budget, the film has so far earned ₹42 crore 80 lakh globally in eight days. The second week has no new notable Bollywood releases, offering the film a chance to utilize available screens, but the collection trend suggests it might remain slow.

“Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” Box Office: Eight-Day Worldwide Totals

Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s action film “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan”, produced on a budget of ₹300 crore, also began its second week in cinemas. Released on Eid, the film secured a decent opening on day one, with worldwide collections across all languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada) exceeding ₹30 crore. However, its first-week collection was considerably lower than expectations, partly due to sharing screens with “Maidaan”.

The film’s earnings progressively declined day by day. Over the first six days, its all-India net collection reached ₹47 crore 2 lakh. On the seventh day, benefiting from the Ram Navami holiday, the film saw a slight growth, collecting ₹2 crore 97 lakh. The eighth day, being a normal working day, witnessed a 20-22% drop in occupancy compared to the previous day, alongside reduced bookings for afternoon, evening, and night shows. On its eighth day, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” recorded an estimated India net collection of ₹2 crore 25 lakh.

With these figures, the film’s total eight-day India net collection stands at ₹52 crore 43 lakh, with an India gross collection of ₹62 crore 35 lakh. The worldwide box office collection across all languages for “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” after eight days totals ₹111 crore 56 lakh. The film has earned ₹111 crore 56 lakh globally in eight days against its ₹300 crore budget. With no new major Bollywood releases this second week, there’s an opportunity for the film to achieve decent earnings, and its final box office performance will depend on collection growth during the upcoming weekend.
