Thaama Box Office: Two-Day Worldwide Collection Report

The romantic horror comedy drama film Thaama, part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, secured one of the biggest openings of the year on its first day at the box office. Released on Diwali’s second day, an Indian holiday, the film was screened on approximately 5500 screens worldwide. Its budget is reported at ₹145 crore, making it the most expensive film in its universe, surpassing previous films like Bhediya, Munjha, and Stree 2.

On its first day, Thaama achieved an India net collection of ₹26 crore 53 lakh across Hindi and Telugu versions. Positive public and critic responses helped the film maintain a strong hold on its second day. However, the morning shows on the second day saw a 22 to 23% drop in occupancy compared to the first day. Based on reports, Thaama is estimated to collect approximately ₹18 crore 25 lakh as its India net collection on the second day.

Cumulatively, the film’s total all-India net collection for the initial two days stands at ₹44 crore 78 lakh. The India gross collection for the same period reached ₹53 crore 62 lakh. Overseas, Thaama garnered an impressive gross collection of ₹9 crore 13 lakh. Thus, the total worldwide box office collection for Thaama over its first two days is ₹62 crore 75 lakh. The film is anticipated to earn more than its budget within its first week.

Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office: 21-Day Global Collections Cross 800 Crores

Rishab Shetty’s adventure drama thriller, Kantara Chapter 1, originally made in Kannada, was released on Dussehra, October 2, in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam. The film has now completed three weeks in cinemas, continuing its strong performance. Despite the release of many new films this week and a reduction in screens across all languages, Kantara Chapter 1 maintains its robust collections daily. It continues to run in approximately 70-75% of theaters in Karnataka.

The film, with a budget of ₹125 crore, has already surpassed its budget significantly worldwide. Reports indicate that Kantara Chapter 1 had collected ₹186 crore 94 lakh as its Hindi net collection and ₹376 crore 22 lakh from South languages (net collection) over its first 20 days. This brought its total all-India net collection for the first 20 days to ₹563 crore 16 lakh.

On its 21st day, the film continued to show good occupancy in morning shows. The Hindi version achieved 30-35% occupancy despite fewer screens. South languages also saw a strong start in morning shows, with afternoon, evening, and night show bookings performing well. It is estimated that Kantara Chapter 1 collected approximately ₹7.5 crore as its India net collection across all languages on its 21st day.

With this, the film’s cumulative all-India net collection for the initial 21 days has reached ₹570 crore 66 lakh. The India gross collection stands at ₹683 crore 34 lakh. The worldwide box office collection for Kantara Chapter 1 over 21 days has reached ₹802 crore 85 lakh, successfully crossing the ₹800 crore mark globally. The film is a significant blockbuster and there is speculation on whether its collection might reach ₹850 crore, ₹900 crore, or even potentially ₹1000 crore if it continues its strong run for a few more weeks, though the ₹1000 crore mark seems challenging at present.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat Box Office: Strong Two-Day Performance

The romantic drama thriller Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, commenced its box office journey with a strong start. The film, directed by Milap Zaveri and produced by Anshul Garg, was made on a budget of ₹35 crore. Despite being released on a limited 2300 screens worldwide due to the simultaneous release of Thaama, the film garnered significant audience support. Its first-day response was exceptional, leading to robust collections on the second day.

On its first day, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat secured an India net collection of ₹9 crore 16 lakh, marking the biggest opening of Harshvardhan Rane’s career. While the first day benefited from a major holiday, the second day, a minor holiday, still saw the film’s morning show occupancy surpassing that of many big-budget films released this year. The morning show occupancy on day two, however, dropped by 27 to 28% compared to day one. Despite this, afternoon, evening, and night show bookings remained solid.

According to current reports, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is estimated to collect approximately ₹6 crore 25 lakh as its India net collection on its second day. This brings the film’s total all-India net collection for the first two days to ₹15 crore 41 lakh. The India gross collection for the same period is ₹18 crore 42 lakh. The film also accumulated an overseas gross collection of ₹1 crore 93 lakh from its limited international release with zero promotion.

Therefore, the total worldwide box office collection for Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat over its initial two days is ₹20 crore 35 lakh. Having collected over ₹20 crore in two days against its ₹35 crore budget, the film is expected to surpass its budget collection worldwide by the third or fourth day. To be declared a hit, the film needs to achieve around ₹50 crore. It is also projected that its lifetime worldwide box office collection could potentially reach ₹100 crore.
