The Great Indian Family Box Office: A Disastrous Opening
Bollywood’s comedy-drama film, The Great Indian Family, faced a challenging opening at the box office. With a budget of approximately ₹40 crore, the film was released on 1200 screens across India. Despite this, it garnered a disaster opening. On its first day, The Great Indian Family collected ₹1 crore. A slight jump was observed in its second-day collections, attributed to a half-holiday, with the film earning approximately ₹2 crore 10 lakh. This brings the total collection for The Great Indian Family in its initial two days to ₹3 crore 90 lakh. Given its ₹40 crore budget and failure to earn even ₹4 crore in two days, the film has been termed a box office disaster.
Leo Advance Booking Soars Weeks Before Release
Thalapathy Vijay’s pan-India film Leo has commenced its advance booking in select markets, with its release still 25 to 27 days away. Advance bookings have opened in international markets including the UK, Norway, and Germany, alongside an early start in Kerala, India. Surprisingly, with over 25 days remaining until its theatrical release, Leo has already amassed a total advance booking collection of ₹4 crore 70 lakh from these four regions (UK, Norway, Germany, and Kerala). The film is slated for release in five languages. It is anticipated that as teasers, trailers are released, and the release date draws nearer, Leo‘s advance bookings will see a significant boost. Based on current buzz, the film is predicted to be Thalapathy Vijay’s biggest opener, potentially earning at least ₹100 crore worldwide on its first day across all languages.
Gadar 2 Box Office: Nearing ₹700 Crore Worldwide Milestone
Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 has completed over a month and a half at the box office and continues its run in cinemas. The film, released on August 11, saw massive collections in its initial four weeks. While its screen count reduced in the fifth week due to Jawan‘s release, Gadar 2 has maintained a commendable earning pace. The film’s India Net Collection in its first six weeks totaled ₹522 crore. In its seventh week, Gadar 2 earned approximately ₹40 lakh on its seventh Friday and roughly ₹60 lakh on its seventh Saturday. This brings the current India Net Collection to ₹523 crore. Globally, the film’s World Wide Gross Collection stands at ₹696 crore, cementing its status as an All-Time Mega Blockbuster. Expectations are high for Gadar 2‘s worldwide collection to surpass the ₹700 crore mark in the coming days.
Jawan Box Office: ₹975 Crore Worldwide in 17 Days, Eyes ₹1000 Crore Milestone
Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, made on a budget of ₹300 crore and released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, has demonstrated phenomenal performance both in India and overseas. In its first week (8 days), Jawan‘s India Net Collection was in the range of ₹390 crore. The second week saw the film add more than ₹136 crore to its India Net Collection. Despite a reduction in screens upon entering its third week, Jawan continued its strong showing. On its 16th day (third Friday), the film recorded an India Net Collection of ₹7 crore 50 lakh. On its 17th day, Jawan is estimated to earn an India Net Collection of ₹9 crore 50 lakh.
With these figures, Jawan‘s total India Net Collection over 17 days reaches ₹543 crore, while its India Gross Collection stands at ₹657 crore. The film has also performed exceptionally well in overseas markets, accumulating a Total Gross Collection of ₹318 crore. Consequently, the 17-day World Wide Gross Collection for Jawan has soared to ₹975 crore. Projections indicate that Jawan‘s worldwide collection will cross the ₹1000 crore milestone within the next two days, making it Shah Rukh Khan’s second film in 2023, after Pathaan (which earned a final collection of ₹1050 crore), to achieve this significant feat.
