Superstar Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD: 16-Day Box Office Performance

Superstar Prabhas’ film Kalki 2898 AD has successfully entered its third week and continues to achieve remarkable box office collections. The film completed 16 days in cinemas, having been released on June 27 in five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Despite facing competition from new releases and a significant reduction in screen count, Kalki 2898 AD has managed to keep cinemas houseful in its third week, with its collections described as “dhamakedar.” The film’s screen count in Tamil Nadu, Hindi, Telugu, Karnataka, and Kerala markets is now only 30% compared to its first week.

For its Hindi Net Collection, Kalki 2898 AD garnered ₹228 crore 70 lakh in its first 14 days. On its 15th day, the film added ₹4 crore 35 lakh from Hindi markets. On the 16th day, with reduced screens, it collected ₹3 crore 50 lakh in Hindi Net. This brings the film’s total 16-day Hindi Net Collection to ₹236 crore 75 lakh. The Hindi Gross Collection for the same period stands at ₹281 crore 33 lakh.

Globally, Kalki 2898 AD had achieved a Worldwide Box Office Collection of ₹978 crore across all five languages within its first 14 days. On the 15th day, its worldwide collection was in the range of ₹12 crore. Despite the release of new films, Kalki 2898 AD earned approximately ₹10 crore worldwide on its 16th day. With these figures, the film’s total Worldwide Box Office Collection for 16 days has reached ₹1000 crore. Kalki 2898 AD has become the second film in Prabhas’ career, after Baahubali 2, to enter the ₹1000 crore club at the box office.

Indian 2: First Day Box Office Opening and Worldwide Collection

The Pan-India film Indian 2, released this week in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, received a “dhamakedar opening” at the box office. The film, which saw a worldwide release on approximately 6500 screens across its five languages, secured a “kafi kafi badhiya” opening. It experienced “jabardast occupancy” in South Indian languages on its first day. In the Hindi market, despite competition from Akshay Kumar’s Sarphira and Kalki 2898 AD, Indian 2 recorded a “decent kamai” in North India on its first day.

The combined budget for Indian 2 and its upcoming third part, Indian 3, is ₹550 crore. Before its release, Indian 2 had already made significant recoveries. Its digital rights for all five languages were sold for ₹220 crore, satellite rights for ₹90 crore, and music rights for ₹15 crore. This means the makers recovered a total of ₹325 crore from these rights prior to the film’s theatrical release.

On its first day, Indian 2 generated an approximate gross collection of ₹25 crore from Tamil Nadu. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributed ₹16 crore, while Karnataka’s gross collection was ₹6 crore. Kerala market recorded approximately ₹5 crore on the first day. In North India, including its Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions, the film earned around ₹10 crore. The first-day All India Gross Collection for Indian 2 is approximately ₹52 crore. From the overseas market, the film collected about ₹23 crore on its opening day. This brings the worldwide box office collection for Indian 2 on its first day to approximately ₹75 crore, marking a “bumper opening.”

Akshay Kumar’s Sarphira: First Day Box Office Performance

Akshay Kumar’s film Sarphira was released in cinemas today, marking its first day. The film was released on approximately 2500 screens worldwide. Sarphira has a budget of ₹80 crore, with Akshay Kumar being a co-producer, meaning his working fee was not added to this budget.

Prior to its release, Sarphira had already earned more than its budget through various rights. The digital rights for the film were sold to Disney+ Hotstar for ₹55 crore. Satellite rights were acquired by Star Network for ₹32 crore, and music rights fetched ₹8 crore. This resulted in a total pre-release recovery of ₹95 crore from digital, satellite, and music rights, indicating a profit of ₹15 crore for the producers even before the film hit theatres.

On its first day, Sarphira recorded an occupancy of only 10-12% in morning shows, which was below expectations. However, positive reviews led to a slight growth in bookings for its afternoon, evening, and night shows. Based on current reports, Sarphira‘s first-day All India Net Collection is ₹3 crore 80 lakh, with an India Gross Collection of ₹4 crore 52 lakh. From the overseas market, the film earned only ₹2 crore 10 lakh on its opening day. Consequently, the first-day Worldwide Box Office Collection for Sarphira stands at ₹6 crore 62 lakh, marking a “dheemi shuruat” (slow start). The collection was described as “downfall dekhne ko mila” and “nirash karne wala” given Akshay Kumar’s stardom, attributed to it being a remake of a film already available in Hindi.
