Superstar Ajay Devgan’s Red 2 is nearing the ₹200 crore mark, establishing it as a major blockbuster at the box office. The film has not faced significant competition for the past two weeks, contributing to its daily improved earnings. Red 2, released on May 1st, earned almost double its budget in the first week. The second week saw a significant advantage for the film as no new Bollywood releases emerged, leading to its continued strong performance globally.
The box office collections for the second Friday, Saturday, and Sunday surpassed expectations. The film maintained a strong hold on its second Monday. With no major Bollywood films scheduled for release next week, Red 2 is anticipated to deliver strong collections in its third week. The film had an initial 10-day All India Net collection of ₹112 crore 42 lakh. On its 11th day, it earned ₹11 crore 85 lakh in the Indian market, showing a significant jump. Despite being a Monday with reduced ticket prices and the start of working days, Red 2 is estimated to earn approximately ₹4.5 crore in the Indian market on its 12th day. This brings its 12-day All India Net collection to ₹128 crore 77 lakh, with an India Gross collection of ₹153 crore 23 lakh. The film has surpassed the ₹150 crore mark in India Gross collections. Its overseas gross collection stands at ₹19 crore 38 lakh. With a budget of ₹55 crore, Red 2 has achieved a 12-day worldwide collection of ₹172 crore 61 lakh, confirming its status as a superhit.
The Bhutni Box Office Performance: Budget Challenge
Sanjay Dutt’s horror-comedy film, The Bhutni, has completed 12 days in cinemas. With a budget of ₹25 crore, the film received good reviews, but its box office collections have not been as strong as expected. The worldwide collections have not yet reached the film’s budget.
The Bhutni recorded an All India Net collection of ₹10 crore 83 lakh in its first 10 days. On its 11th day, the film earned ₹1 crore 14 lakh at the Indian box office. However, a significant drop in occupancy was observed on Monday (12th day) across all shows. As per reports, The Bhutni is earning ₹60 lakh in the Indian market on its 12th day. This brings its 12-day All India Net collection to ₹12 crore 57 lakh, with an India Gross collection of ₹14 crore 95 lakh. The film also had a limited release overseas, resulting in lower collections, with an overseas gross of ₹1 crore 34 lakh. The total 12-day worldwide box office collection for The Bhutni is ₹16 crore 29 lakh, against its ₹25 crore budget.
Retro Box Office: Crosses ₹120 Crore Worldwide
Suriya’s action-thriller Retro received decent reviews but saw strong box office collections primarily in its first week. While the film showed some growth over the second-week weekend, it was not substantial. On Monday, the film experienced a considerable drop in collections, with current day collections lower than anticipated. Released in Tamil, Hindi, and other South Indian languages, Retro had a budget of ₹70 crore.
Retro collected an All India Net collection of ₹72 crore 26 lakh across all languages in its first 11 days. On its 12th day (Monday), with reduced ticket prices and a drop in occupancy, the film is earning ₹1 crore 35 lakh in the Indian market. This leads to a 12-day All India Net collection of ₹73 crore 61 lakh and an India Gross collection of ₹87 crore 58 lakh. The film performed well overseas, accumulating ₹32 crore 79 lakh. The total 12-day worldwide collection for Retro stands at ₹120 crore 37 lakh. Having earned ₹50 crore more than its budget globally, Retro has been deemed a success at the box office.
Hit 3 Box Office Update: Over ₹130 Crore Worldwide
Natural Star Nani’s crime-thriller Hit 3 received positive reviews and benefited from being a franchise film, leading to a significant boost at the box office. The film performed strongly in its first week and had good collections over the second weekend. However, on Monday, Hit 3 experienced a substantial drop in box office performance. The film, released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and other South Indian languages, has a budget of ₹80 crore.
Hit 3 achieved an All India Net collection of ₹80 crore 3 lakh across all languages by its 11th day. On its 12th day (Monday), with a considerable drop in occupancy compared to the previous day, the film is earning ₹1 crore 75 lakh in the Indian market. This brings the 12-day All India Net collection for Hit 3 to ₹81 crore 78 lakh, and an India Gross collection of ₹97 crore 28 lakh. The film showed strong performance overseas, with a gross collection of ₹33 crore 46 lakh. In its first 12 days, Hit 3 accumulated a worldwide collection of ₹130 crore 74 lakh. With a budget of ₹80 crore and worldwide earnings exceeding ₹130 crore, Hit 3 is a successful movie at the box office.
