Dunki vs Salaar Box Office Collection: Prabhas and Shahrukh Khan's Massive Clash

Animal Box Office Collection: Fourth Week Performance

Bollywood film Animal, released on December 1st, has now entered its fourth week in cinemas. The film saw massive earnings for three weeks, but with the arrival of Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Prabhas’s Salaar, its screen count in the fourth week has significantly reduced. Despite this, Animal has already become an all-time blockbuster, setting record-breaking collections worldwide. The action-packed film, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna, had an initial three-week Hindi net collection of ₹481 crore 44 lakh. Its South Indian languages net collection for the same period was ₹49 crore 45 lakh. This brings Animal’s all-India net collection over three weeks to ₹531 crore 29 lakh. For its fourth Friday, Animal is estimated to collect approximately ₹2 crore 70 lakh as its India net collection. This brings the film’s total all-India net collection to approximately ₹533 crore. The India gross collection stands at ₹636 crore. From overseas markets, the film has earned a total of ₹231 crore. Cumulatively, Animal’s worldwide total box office collection has reached ₹867 crore, solidifying its status as an all-time blockbuster globally.

Dunki Box Office: Opening Day and Two-Day Totals

Shah Rukh Khan’s film Dunki faced mixed to negative reviews, which impacted its box office opening. The film’s opening was less than 50% compared to Shah Rukh Khan’s previous films. On its second day, the release of Salaar further affected Dunki, drawing away many screens and leading to a significant drop in collections. Dunki, made on a budget of approximately ₹120 crore and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Vicky Kaushal, and Taapsee Pannu, recorded a first-day worldwide gross collection of only ₹60 crore. This is notably lower than Shah Rukh Khan’s previous films, which opened with over ₹100 crore. The second day saw collections drop further. On its second day, Dunki’s India net collection was ₹22 crore, with an India gross collection of ₹26 crore. The overseas collection for the second day was approximately ₹12 crore. Therefore, Dunki’s second-day worldwide gross collection is in the range of ₹38 crore. After two days, Dunki’s worldwide box office collection stands at ₹98 crore. This means Dunki did not cross the ₹100 crore mark globally in two days, unlike Jawan and Pathaan, which surpassed ₹100 crore on their first day itself.

Salaar Box Office: A Record-Breaking Opening

Pan-India superstar Prabhas’s film Salaar has set a new record at the box office, achieving the biggest opening of 2023. Salaar’s first-day collection is notably higher than Dunki’s combined two-day collection. The film, directed by Prashanth Neel, had a total budget of ₹400 crore. Before its release, Salaar’s makers generated significant revenue from rights sales: digital rights across all languages sold for ₹250 crore, satellite rights for ₹110 crore, and worldwide theatrical rights for ₹345 crore. In total, rights for the ₹400 crore budget film were sold for ₹705 crore. According to early estimates, Salaar’s first-day all-India net collection across five languages reached ₹110 crore. Its first-day India gross collection was approximately ₹135 crore. Including its premiere collections in the overseas market, Salaar’s first-day overseas collection totaled approximately ₹45 crore. Consequently, Salaar’s first-day worldwide collection, including premieres, stands at a massive ₹180 crore. This film has secured the record for the biggest opening in Indian cinema for 2023. Salaar has entirely outperformed Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki at the box office.
