Superstar Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ is continuing its record-breaking earnings into its third week. The film’s worldwide collection has reached almost three times its budget. The sports drama comedy, starring Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, surprised everyone, with initial expectations not reaching even ₹100 crore due to lack of buzz and its remake status. However, ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ defied expectations with strong earnings in its first week and maintained an excellent hold in its second week. Despite a decrease in screens due to new releases, the film achieved a significant collection in its third weekend.
With a budget of ₹80 crore, ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ has completed 17 days in cinemas. The film accumulated an India net collection of ₹137 crore 22 lakh in its initial 15 days. Overseas collections were also quite low, resulting in a three-day worldwide collection of ₹11 crore 52 lakh. The Bollywood romantic drama ‘Metro In Dino,’ directed by Anurag Basu and featuring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan alongside Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh, was produced with a budget of ₹100 crore.
