WAR 2 vs Coolie: Worldwide Box Office Collection & 3rd Day Earnings Update (Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR)

War 2’s Initial Box Office Performance

The Bollywood film War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR, has garnered record-breaking collections since its release. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film also stars Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Ashutosh Rana. War 2, a Bollywood production, was dubbed and released in Tamil and Telugu in addition to Hindi. While the film received positive reviews from the public upon release, many critics offered negative feedback. Despite this, its earnings on the first day were entirely record-breaking. The second day, August 15, also saw spectacular earnings. The third day, which coincided with Janmashtami, was expected to bring in massive collections; however, the earnings were slightly less than anticipated. The fourth day, being Sunday, brought a significant jump in the film’s collections. The initial four-day weekend included several holidays, leading to strong earnings both in India and overseas. The film’s performance from Monday, a working day, will indicate its hold at the box office.

Coolie’s Strong Debut and Market Dynamics

The action-thriller film Coolie, starring Superstar Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, was originally made in Tamil but was dubbed into Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi. It was released worldwide on August 14 across 7500 screens. Before its release, Coolie generated significant buzz, with expectations that it might become the first Tamil cinema film to earn ₹1000 crore worldwide. This anticipation was fueled by director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s track record of blockbuster films like Vikram and Leo, coupled with a star-studded cast including King Nagarjuna from Telugu cinema, Aamir Khan from Hindi cinema, Upendra from Kannada cinema, and Shobbin Sahir from Malayalam cinema. Audiences expected record-breaking earnings across all languages.

The film’s collections in Tamil Nadu were reportedly outstanding, meeting expectations. It also achieved strong earnings in Telugu, and its performance in Kerala and Karnataka (Malayalam and Kannada regions) was described as exceptional. However, Coolie faced a significant drawback in the Hindi market. Its release coincided with War 2, leading to fewer screens for Coolie in the Hindi belt and consequently lower collections in Hindi. Despite this, Coolie‘s strong performance in South Indian languages enabled it to become the highest-grossing Tamil cinema film of 2025 within just four days, surpassing the lifetime collections of all other Tamil films released this year.

Coolie Box Office Collection Breakdown (4 Days)

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie amassed an All India Net Collection of ₹119.75 crore across all four languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada) within its first two days. On the third day, a Saturday which also marked Janmashtami, the film’s earnings were decent, bringing in ₹38.50 crore India Net Collection across all languages. The fourth day, a Sunday, saw better occupancy in morning shows compared to the previous day, with afternoon, evening, and night show bookings showing significant growth. Reports indicate that Coolie earned approximately ₹45 crore India Net Collection across all languages on its fourth day.

The film is projected to cross the ₹400 crore worldwide mark as soon as its first show on the following day begins. Coolie‘s budget is ₹375 crore, and while it has earned more than its budget in four days, it requires further collections to be declared a hit.

War 2 Box Office Challenges and Collections

War 2 has faced significant negativity since its release, with efforts reportedly made to hinder its box office performance. Many individuals who have not seen the film are heavily criticizing it. However, actual audiences who have watched the film have praised its action sequences and the presentation of Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR, indicating their enjoyment of the movie. Despite the audience’s positive reception, the film has been targeted and subjected to negativity over the past four days, which has reportedly caused a dent in its collections. It is suggested that the earnings would have been higher without this undue criticism. Nevertheless, War 2 has achieved strong collections in both Hindi and Telugu. In Tamil, it faced competition from Rajinikanth’s Coolie, but still managed decent earnings.

War 2 Hindi Net Box Office Collection (4 Days)

War 2 collected a Hindi Net Collection of ₹73.50 crore within its first two days. On the third day, a Saturday coinciding with Janmashtami, the film received a good response in morning shows, but evening and night shows reportedly underperformed. This led to collections being lower than expected, with the film earning ₹29.10 crore Hindi Net Collection on its third day. On the fourth day, a Sunday, War 2 showed a strong start compared to the previous day, with significantly better occupancy in morning shows and solid bookings for afternoon, evening, and night shows. As per reports, War 2 is earning approximately ₹33.50 crore in the Hindi market on its fourth day. This brings War 2‘s total Hindi Net Collection for its first four days to ₹136.10 crore. War 2 All India Net Box Office Collection (All Languages – 4 Days)

Upon its release, War 2 received good support from the Telugu audience on its first day due to the presence of Junior NTR. However, in the subsequent days (second, third, and fourth), the film’s collections from Telugu audiences have seen a decline, with the majority of its earnings now coming from the Hindi version.

War 2 recorded an India Net Collection of ₹53.48 crore across all three languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu) on its first day. The second day witnessed significant growth, with the film earning ₹56.73 crore in India Net Collection across all languages. On the third day, despite high expectations, the film’s collections experienced a drop, reaching ₹33.21 crore in India Net Collection across all languages. On the fourth day, similar to the Hindi market, the film saw a slight growth in Telugu collections. The total India Gross Collection stands at ₹218.30 crore.

War 2 Worldwide Box Office Earnings and Budget

War 2 has a total budget of ₹400 crore, indicating that it still needs to accumulate substantial collections to achieve hit status.
